Text-to-Speech Notice for Different Browsers

The plugin’s text-to-speech feature relies on the Web Speech API provided by modern browsers. The quality of the spoken voice can vary significantly depending on the browser being used.

Google Chrome and Safari offer high-quality, natural-sounding voices by default. These voices are used automatically without requiring any additional configuration, resulting in significantly better voice output across many languages.

You can choose from 23 different languages currently available. With each update, additional languages will be added to enhance user experience.

Firefox: Limited Voice Quality

Mozilla Firefox uses only the system-installed voices available on the user’s device. Especially on Windows, these voices often sound robotic or unnatural. Unfortunately, this behavior is controlled by Firefox itself and cannot be modified by the plugin.

Solution in Progress

We are currently working on an alternative solution to improve voice quality in Firefox. Until then, we recommend using Chrome or Safari for the best text-to-speech experience.

Tip for Advanced Users

On Windows and macOS, additional system voices can be installed through system settings. This may improve voice quality in Firefox depending on the configuration.
